Sandi & Tony came all the way from Western Australia to be married on the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland. It was lovely to see plenty of Sandi's family making the trek to join Tony's family from Brisbane. A lovely melding of two families and two people.

When we met with Sandi & Tony for the first time early in the week prior to their wedding we asked them what they are most looking forward to about their wedding. It was a resounding, 'Catching up with all our loved ones' from both of them. They both spent loads of time on the day with their guests, hugging and crying about how wonderful it was to all be together. The immense respect that Sandi, Tony and all their families showed for the older generation was heartwarming.

The other part of their story that I just love is that Sandi is a truck-driver! You wouldn't know it by looking at her or even talking to her. She is the most beautiful, elegant and natural woman you could find. They met at work, on the minefields of WA. Hence the title of their teaser, 'She breaks them, He fixes them'. She's the driver, he's the mechanic! You just have to check out their cake topper.

Jennifer + Michael | A Thousand Years | A Maleny Wedding

This weeks teaser centres around the beautiful vows that Jennifer and Michael spoke to each other. Having been to our fair share of weddings over the years we often hear similar vows and readings. Regardless of that when spoken by two people from the depths of their hearts the connection between them is palpable, beautiful and timeless as if these were the first words ever spoken. I'm not sure if we have recorded these vows before but on this day it was as if this was the only wedding ceremony ever held and these words the only vows ever made.

Along with being absolutely stunning our bride Jennifer had thought of every little detail. Even to the point of 'greasing the ring'. She shared with me in the morning that the cause of this little unorthodox ceremony is the fact that Michael has large knuckles but skinny fingers! So you will see the bridesmaids carefully applying cocoa butter to the ring. Even so when the moment came the ring still needed to be jiggled by the groom providing a lovely light moment in the ceremony.

A wonderful day was had by all with the weather behaving and allowing us some beautiful location photos and the sun even peeking through from time to time.

This weeks bride has the most infectious smile and a wonderful laugh. She laughed her way through the morning with her sister, bridesmaids, sister-in-law, mum and mum-in-law enjoying the day with her.

The groom also enjoyed a relaxing morning surrounded by family and close friends at Jacaranda Cottages before jumping in a helicopter to make their grand entrance at Maleny Manor.

It was a perfect day all round. We wish you both a wonderful life together and can't wait to complete your full wedding films.

Today's blog post comes direct from the Bride and Groom! Kate & Nathan had put a lot of effort into all the little details used to decorate the Monterey Penthouse at Picture Point Terraces in Noosa. Which I must say is the perfect location for an intimate Noosa wedding reception. The views were stunning, the atmosphere electric and the decorations just so cute!

One of these decorations was a London Tube style sign which read:

We all had such an amazing day. Everything was just perfect! Which is of course exactly how the happy couple planned it. Both being bitten by the travel bug many years ago it seemed perfectly logical that they would have a destination wedding travelling north from Sydney for the occasion. Bringing their photographer, Halee with them and hiring some of the top Noosa wedding specialists it all seemed an easy day.

The highlight for me was most definitely the food! Kate & Nathan are self-confessed foodies (as you can see from their sign) so it makes sense that they would have the best wedding caterer Noosa has to offer. Spoonfed are highly regarded and now I have first hand experience. The food was just amazing and everything I've eaten since has paled in comparison!

Kate & Nathan, you are a beautiful couple. It was a pleasure to be part of your wedding day and we wish you all the best for the many years to come.

Michael + Katie | Young Love

Michael and Katie are one cute couple. Young, full of life and expectation they enjoyed every moment of their day.

The girls had a great time in the morning relaxing at Katie's family home whilst the boys lived it up at the Mantra Mooloolaba Beach Resort.

After purchasing four different wedding dresses Katie looked a stunner in the winning one and Michael proudly wore the pocket watch Katie had given him.

Everything was just perfect, the weather, the baby (sleeping mostly), the dress... there was just one hitch. When it came to the hand tying ceremony there was no silk ribbon with which to bind the couple together. The quick thinking celebrant, Fiona, arrived at the solution moments before I did and by the time she reached me I had one of the silky pink chair ties removed and ready for her outstreached hand. What a save! The lovely decorator, Cloud Nine Weddings graciously gifted the chair tie to the couple.

One of the perks of our job is receiving emails and letters such as this one...

Happy New Year to you both and hope the Chinese Year of the Dragon will be a happy, prosperous and busy year for you (...but not too busy!)

Singapore is going really well and the time has flown. Would you believe it - we are heading off to Bali for our first wedding anniversary this weekend! We are amazed that it's almost a year ago that we tied the knot. Of course, we are looking forward to watching our "Love Story" DVD again to re-live the day. Thank you both so much again for the amazing job you did on the movie. Every time we watch it we get goosebumps! Our friends and family love it too and think that it is the best wedding video they have seen. We have friends who are getting married back in the UK next year and they hope to find someone to do a wedding video like ours. I don't suppose you guys are planning to open a London office??? ;)

By the way, thank you for that little notebook that you sent through for Kel. That was very thoughtful of you. She uses it a lot and "why not?" has become a little catch-phrase of ours of late (particularly when picking a fancy hotel in Bali!).

I hope Lumina is going dambusters; judging by the number of new videos on your site it looks like it is.

We wish you all the best for the new year (well, it still "feels" new even if we are in mid-Feb already) and thanks again for letting us enjoy the magic of our wedding day 12 months on!

Balloons, Butterfiles and Blubbering

Let's face it, the wedding ceremony itself is not the first part of the wedding preparation that the bride plans. Even though in actual fact it is the most important part of the day, the dress and the venue and all the little details come first.

You might even think that the ceremony itself is quite straight forward and that there might not be many options available to you. Whilst in a traditional religious service that might be true there are many options available to you. Your celebrant or minister will be able to guide you and most will be open to inclusions of your suggestion. We find that the most moving ceremonies are those that have had much time and thought put into them. When family members and friends are invited to take part in special moments during the ceremony it can be most touching and invoke blubbering in even the most stout of your family members.

The vows you make to each other are a special moment just for the two of you. I encourage you to look at each other when making your vows, not the celebrant! If you think you can manage it, memorise them and speak them from your heart. Prompting can be provided if necessary. One thing that we really love and that is a speciality of Bill Scurry one of the Sunshine Coasts top marriage celebrants is the writing of special words to each other. These are in addition to your vows and allow you the opportunity to share your deepest feelings and some fun moments too. One of our couples Paul & Kristen vowed to squeeze each others hand when they reached for the other. Another groom promised to persistently try to get his new wife to watch the Star Wars trilogy in full, whilst she vowed that she couldn't promise not to buy any more shoes!

Then there are little ceremonies within the marriage ceremony. We are still seeing new ones! Just the other week at we had the pleasure of filming Ika and Bob's ceremony that incorporated a 'jumping the broom ceremony' that allowed both mothers of the couple to be involved in a special way. I particularly like the sand ceremony. The visual symbolism of the two sands mixing together, never to be separated is one that brings home to me the utmost joining of two people, their souls forever intertwined.

We have also seen the releasing of balloons, doves and butterflies during or after a ceremony. If accompanied by moving words explaining the symbolism and relationship to your marriage these can be beautiful moments. Then there is the more traditional lighting of candles, which is a lovely way to show respect and love to the two sets of parents and recognising the starting of a new family unit.

Whatever you decide make sure it reflects the two of you. If you feel that these 'mini' ceremonies really are a bit silly then don't do them. But if it something that you have always wanted then do it! When incorporated in a seamless way they can be a moving and special part of your wedding ceremony.

Ika + Bob | Beachside Bliss

As Ika and Bob live for most of the year in Indonesia we didn't have opportunity to meet them till about a week before the wedding. The majority of the preparations and planning were coordinated by the groom's sister, Caroline. She did a wonderful job liaising with service providers and making sure Ika and Bob's desires were met.

When we did finally meet I was surprised at how much Bob was aware of all the little details that had been planned. The whole day was a wonderful effort from all involved and a wonderful testament to the love and commitment this family has for each other. As we progressed through the day it was evident the families of Ika and Bob played vital roles not only in the preparation of the day but their lives as well.

The whole day was a wonderful success and even the rain stayed away to ensure this day would be perfect.

What makes your man nervous?

We often ask our couples what they are most excited about when planning their weddings. Most couples tell us they are most looking forward to that moment when they glimpse each other for the first time after walking down the aisle. Sometimes if they are right in the throws of planning when we meet with them it's the honeymoon they are looking forward to!

We also ask what it is they are most nervous about. For the Grooms it is undoubtedly, hands down, no competition, their speech. This is the part of the day that makes them jittery and nervous. Sometimes their approach is to have a few drinks to settle those nerves, others say it's no drinks till after! Whatever the approach we have found time and time again the Groom's speech is one of the biggest highlights of the day.

Even those Groom's who have barely had a say during the wedding planning. When we meet with our couples we sit down to have some coffee and cake and have a chat about their wedding day, their plans, even how they met. More often than not the Brides do most of the talking. In fact, one couple comes to mind where the Bride was so chatty and bubbly that I don't think the Groom said more than a few words. But when it came his time to stand up and speak about his beautiful bride there came a charisma and confidence that we didn't know was there.

Our advice to any Groom planning their speech is to take the time to think about your Bride, your relationship, your feelings. Your wedding reception is a beautiful, once in a lifetime opportunity to share how you really feel, to create memories with your new wife that will carry you through the years to come.

Oh, and to any Brides considering giving a speech, I say go for it. My family and friends still speak about my speech 12 years on!

Happily Ever After

When I was a little girl my best friend and I would spend hours and hours over the weekend planning our weddings. We were inseparable and thought that a double wedding would be the ultimate dream wedding. No thought was given to the men, or 'boys' we were going to marry, just to all the little details and how we would feel on the day.

As we grew our tastes changed and matured a little but right up into our late teens we still thought we could pull off the double wedding! In the end we found our soul mates at different times in our lives and on different continents! We each had our dream wedding and were honoured to be a big part of the others day.

All little girls, however they dream their wedding will be, all have one thing in common... we are all looking for our 'happily ever after'.

There is one venue on the Sunshine Coast that produces 'happily ever afters' every weekend of the year. Maleny Manor in the beautiful Blackall Range. It never ceases to amaze me how the team work with each and every bride and groom to create an atmosphere of love and beauty to make every girls dream come true.

If you hadn't guessed by now, it is one of our favourite venues and we just love being there. Recently, we had the pleasure of filming Amy & Dean's wedding and have put together a little something to show off this wonderful place.
