Happy New Year to you both and hope the Chinese Year of the Dragon will be a happy, prosperous and busy year for you (...but not too busy!)

Singapore is going really well and the time has flown. Would you believe it - we are heading off to Bali for our first wedding anniversary this weekend! We are amazed that it's almost a year ago that we tied the knot. Of course, we are looking forward to watching our "Love Story" DVD again to re-live the day. Thank you both so much again for the amazing job you did on the movie. Every time we watch it we get goosebumps! Our friends and family love it too and think that it is the best wedding video they have seen. We have friends who are getting married back in the UK next year and they hope to find someone to do a wedding video like ours. I don't suppose you guys are planning to open a London office??? ;)

By the way, thank you for that little notebook that you sent through for Kel. That was very thoughtful of you. She uses it a lot and "why not?" has become a little catch-phrase of ours of late (particularly when picking a fancy hotel in Bali!).

I hope Lumina is going dambusters; judging by the number of new videos on your site it looks like it is.

We wish you all the best for the new year (well, it still "feels" new even if we are in mid-Feb already) and thanks again for letting us enjoy the magic of our wedding day 12 months on!

Bill Scurry one of the Sunshine Coasts top marriage celebrants is the writing of special words to each other. These are in addition to your vows and allow you the opportunity to share your deepest feelings and some fun moments too. One of our couples Paul & Kristen vowed to squeeze each others hand when they reached for the other. Another groom promised to persistently try to get his new wife to watch the Star Wars trilogy in full, whilst she vowed that she couldn't promise not to buy any more shoes!

Then there are little ceremonies within the marriage ceremony. We are still seeing new ones! Just the other week at we had the pleasure of filming Ika and Bob's ceremony that incorporated a 'jumping the broom ceremony' that allowed both mothers of the couple to be involved in a special way. I particularly like the sand ceremony. The visual symbolism of the two sands mixing together, never to be separated is one that brings home to me the utmost joining of two people, their souls forever intertwined.

We have also seen the releasing of balloons, doves and butterflies during or after a ceremony. If accompanied by moving words explaining the symbolism and relationship to your marriage these can be beautiful moments. Then there is the more traditional lighting of candles, which is a lovely way to show respect and love to the two sets of parents and recognising the starting of a new family unit.

Whatever you decide make sure it reflects the two of you. If you feel that these 'mini' ceremonies really are a bit silly then don't do them. But if it something that you have always wanted then do it! When incorporated in a seamless way they can be a moving and special part of your wedding ceremony.

Ika + Bob | Beachside Bliss

As Ika and Bob live for most of the year in Indonesia we didn't have opportunity to meet them till about a week before the wedding. The majority of the preparations and planning were coordinated by the groom's sister, Caroline. She did a wonderful job liaising with service providers and making sure Ika and Bob's desires were met.

When we did finally meet I was surprised at how much Bob was aware of all the little details that had been planned. The whole day was a wonderful effort from all involved and a wonderful testament to the love and commitment this family has for each other. As we progressed through the day it was evident the families of Ika and Bob played vital roles not only in the preparation of the day but their lives as well.

The whole day was a wonderful success and even the rain stayed away to ensure this day would be perfect.

What makes your man nervous?

We often ask our couples what they are most excited about when planning their weddings. Most couples tell us they are most looking forward to that moment when they glimpse each other for the first time after walking down the aisle. Sometimes if they are right in the throws of planning when we meet with them it's the honeymoon they are looking forward to!

We also ask what it is they are most nervous about. For the Grooms it is undoubtedly, hands down, no competition, their speech. This is the part of the day that makes them jittery and nervous. Sometimes their approach is to have a few drinks to settle those nerves, others say it's no drinks till after! Whatever the approach we have found time and time again the Groom's speech is one of the biggest highlights of the day.

Even those Groom's who have barely had a say during the wedding planning. When we meet with our couples we sit down to have some coffee and cake and have a chat about their wedding day, their plans, even how they met. More often than not the Brides do most of the talking. In fact, one couple comes to mind where the Bride was so chatty and bubbly that I don't think the Groom said more than a few words. But when it came his time to stand up and speak about his beautiful bride there came a charisma and confidence that we didn't know was there.

Our advice to any Groom planning their speech is to take the time to think about your Bride, your relationship, your feelings. Your wedding reception is a beautiful, once in a lifetime opportunity to share how you really feel, to create memories with your new wife that will carry you through the years to come.

Oh, and to any Brides considering giving a speech, I say go for it. My family and friends still speak about my speech 12 years on!

Happily Ever After

When I was a little girl my best friend and I would spend hours and hours over the weekend planning our weddings. We were inseparable and thought that a double wedding would be the ultimate dream wedding. No thought was given to the men, or 'boys' we were going to marry, just to all the little details and how we would feel on the day.

As we grew our tastes changed and matured a little but right up into our late teens we still thought we could pull off the double wedding! In the end we found our soul mates at different times in our lives and on different continents! We each had our dream wedding and were honoured to be a big part of the others day.

All little girls, however they dream their wedding will be, all have one thing in common... we are all looking for our 'happily ever after'.

There is one venue on the Sunshine Coast that produces 'happily ever afters' every weekend of the year. Maleny Manor in the beautiful Blackall Range. It never ceases to amaze me how the team work with each and every bride and groom to create an atmosphere of love and beauty to make every girls dream come true.

If you hadn't guessed by now, it is one of our favourite venues and we just love being there. Recently, we had the pleasure of filming Amy & Dean's wedding and have put together a little something to show off this wonderful place.

The Best of 2011

As the year draws to a close it's time to reflect on the year that's been. Once again we have thoroughly enjoyed every wedding we have been privileged enough to attend. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our brides and grooms for 2011 and wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

This year we had so many outstanding weddings we have put together a 'best of' list. It was a tough process, inspired by our most favourite wedding dress of the year. But as we thought about it we wanted to put together a list of unique items to each wedding so you will see the list is a little left of centre. We hope you enjoy reading and viewing as much as we enjoyed putting the list together.

Best Mid-Ceremony Surprise by the Groom: A few weeks before their wedding the trillion cut tanzanite from Joni's wedding ring fell out and was lost. After calling 14 different jewellers Ben found one that was able to replace the lost gem and surprised his beautiful bride during the ring ceremony. The emotion in the air was palpable!

Furtherest Distance for the Bride and Groom to Travel to their Wedding: Kat & Crispin. Kat & Crispin live in Dubai, Saudi Arabia. Kat grew up in Brisbane, Australia and Crispin in the UK and parts of Europe. Arranging their wedding from half way across the world was a stretch but one managed well with a supportive family.

Latest booking: Kelly & Tom booked only 10 days before their wedding. Which meant Kelly emailed on the Sunday, called Monday morning before we were even in the studio, we met with them on the Thursday night, filmed their love story interviews on the following Wednesday and their wedding was on the Saturday!

Cutest Kids: This is a tough one to call. There were lots of super cute kids this year. Amy & Dean's boys, Jack and James looked so sweet in their little suits. Then there was little Oliver, Kirsty & Duncan's gorgeous boy who was dapper in his hat. But the winner of this category would have to be Andre & Kym's pigeon pair.

Best Photobooth Props: This is a tough one. There were loads of photo booths this year. The best props would have to be a tie between Kirsty & Duncan and Amy & Dean. Any guesses who the photographers are posing with us?

Most Fun Filming a Love Story: Also a tight call as we had a great time with Joni & Ben capturing Ben's first car and the two of them enjoying one of their favourite activities: canoeing on the Noosa River, but the award goes to Will & Charlie who were keen to show off their lego collection and treated us to a sword fighting routine (unfortunately not showing in the teaser!).

Most Wedding Shoes Worn On the Day: Jen work six pairs of Luboutin shoes thoughout her wedding day. Starting off with the tallest 4 inch heels, slowly stepping down to comfy flats to dance the night away.

Best New Last Name: Though it's less common these days for the bride to take her new husbands last name, this is one no bride could resist... 'Wedding'. Yep that's right Alyce became Mrs Alyce Wedding on her wedding day!

Well, we hope you enjoyed our look back through the weddings of 2011. There were plenty of other beautiful weddings with beautiful moments, too many to all make the list. We are looking forward to what 2012 brings and can't wait to produce a wedding film beyond your wildest imaginations!

Zoe & Chris | It's Forever

Zoe and Chris choose to be married at a luxury home on the NSW Central Coast. Family and friends travelled up for the weekend, mostly from Canberra, some from Sydney and some from Melbourne.

The bridal party and a few extra friends stayed together at the property in the days leading up to the wedding and spent the time preparing, cleaning and DIY'ing the decorations for the big day. We met Zoe and Chris on Friday morning for the first time. Zoe was super excited to have us there to film their wedding video. As Zoe's grandparents weren't able to come at the last minute the teaser Zoe's mum will be able to share their teaser on Monday night before traveling back home.

Two of the most touching moments of the day involved Zoe's wedding gift to Chris. A new guitar was the surprise that awaited. A beautiful, personally sung and strummed (on his new guitar) rendition of their favourite song was the gift that surprised Zoe. It was a lovely connection between the two of them, showing the love and thoughtfulness each showed for the other.

The whole day was just stunning, from the location to the guests to the weather to the bride and groom. "Better than I had ever imagined," was how the bride described it all at the end of the day. Well done, Zoe and Chris. We wish you every happiness as the years roll by.

Amy + Dean | A Love Story Meets Same Day Edit

Amy and Dean's big day has finally arrived. The date was 11/11/11. Many people choose a wedding date simply because it is an interesting or memorable date. Others choose a date because it has some significance to them and their relationship. Amy and Dean have both. The number eleven and more specifically 11:11 has been instrumental in their lives together. (You'll have to watch the teaser to find out the details).

What we are showing you today is almost a Same Day Edit (SDE). When we filmed Amy & Dean's love story interviews and produced their love story teaser Amy asked us if it could be shown at their reception. Of course the answer was yes. We love getting as many people watching our films as possible, and nothing's better than a captive audience ;) What Amy didn't know was that we were going to weave in some of the memorable moments from their wedding day too. The short film received a rousing round of applause on the night.

It was a beautiful day at Maleny Manor and we were blessed to work with some of the best wedding professionals around. Amy herself said during the photoshoot, "What am I going to do with myself now, I can't stalk your websites anymore!" Check out Amy & Dean's ingredient's list below to find out who they were.

Kirsty + Duncan | Ain't Love Something?

A beautiful Saturday in Noosa, QLD.

A handsome groom, beautiful bride and officially the youngest best man we've ever seen. (He's 3!)

Kirsty & Duncan had an intimate little wedding with just a few of their best loved friends and family to celebrate their special day.

Kirsty's sister made some lovely remarks as she started the proceedings off at the reception and they gave everyone a great insight into this couple.

Kirsty had just 2 bridesmaids and Duncan had his Dad (all the way from England) to stand by him... but the honour of Best Man went to Duncan and Kirsty's little boy Oliver.

(I was looking forward to hearing Oliver's best man speech but apparently it was past his bed time.)

The ceremony took place at the Sunshine Beach Surf Club and the reception was at Coconut Grove Bar and Bistro just across the road.

The night finished with fun photos in the photo booth and lots of dancing too.
